In order to determine your actual problem, the doctor will ask you various health questions related to your condition. This information is very important in building your health history, and will play a vital part in helping the doctor understand the causes and effects of your condition. Next, a physical exam will be performed to evaluate the status of your muscles, nerves and bones. Based on the examination findings, the doctor will determine if it is necessary to perform X-rays.

Computerized Nerve Scan

Electromyography (EMG) Electrodiagnosis is a relatively new medical test which can objectively identify nerve problems and/or muscle problems. It is usually necessary to help evaluate back pain, neck pain, numbness, weakness and etc. The data provided by the EMG can provide your doctor with valuable information to establish the best course of care and update your progress on the best course of treatment. It is fast and painless.

X-ray Studies

X-rays provide information that will assist your doctor in planning your treatment. X-rays can reveal fractures, spinal misalignment's, joint and bone disease and other facts regarding your health status. X-rays are not always necessary, however your doctor will decide if your specific case warrants their use. If taken the doctor will typically review your x-rays during your report of findings. Your x-rays will become a very valuable part of your health records.

Home Instructions

sonnier chiropracticPrior to leaving, some patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches.

Schedule Your Next Appointment

You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1-2 days and are provided with a complete review of findings. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed during this time. Adjustments are not generally done on the first visit. This allows us to compile all the information taken during the consultation, history, examination and x-rays to review and create a treatment plan designed for your specific needs and conditions.
