You don't need to be an athlete or super flexible to realize the benefits of a yoga practice. Svaroopa yoga takes a gentle, compassionate approach into working with the body, meeting each individual where they are at. Use of yoga props, specific alignments and individual adjustments ensure each student experiences safe and deep changes in the body.

Svaroopa yoga is a systematic approach to optimising the function of every system in the body from the muscles to digestion, circulation and immunity. Working on all levels simultaneously, physical mental and emotional, yoga provides a pathway to tap into the body's natural ability for self regulation and healing.

Svaroopa yoga is appropriate for all body types and fitness levels.

Svaroopa Yoga Therapy

In a Svaroopa yoga therapy session, you receive the many benefits of spinal release with maximum levels of support by doing yoga poses with additional propping and adjustments. Poses are chosen to target specific areas of tension, which results in deep releases that make lasting changes in the body.

Each yoga therapy session is custom-designed to your specific needs. Each therapy session will include release of spinal tension in a specific sequence, but is geared to address problem areas, aches and pains, areas of tension.

There are many, many yoga therapy techniques that range from coaching a breathing practice, special support in poses to presses and more advanced techniques. At the foundation, in a yoga therapy session, you will be assisted in getting into appropriate, well-supported yoga angles. You will likely stay in each pose longer than in a regular class.

As an example, a client with digestive problems would have a different session than a client with neck and shoulder problems or fibromyalgia.

Overlap Healing Sessions

Overlap healing is a series of private yoga therapy sessions. In overlap healing, a client receives a session everyday for several days (usually between three and ten). As a result, the body does not tighten up between sessions and rapid, permanent changes are typically made. After the initial period, an equal number of sessions are done every other day, followed by an equal number every third day. This ensures that the changes continue and the new openings in the body hold. A 3 day overlap series consists of 9 sessions. A 5 day overlap hea ling series consists of 15 sessions.

After an overlap healing period, a weekly session is recommended to support the healing process. Overlap healing sessions can include breathing practice instructions, Svaroopa yoga poses, or a mix of both. In addition the yoga therapist works with each client to develop and implement a daily home yoga practice empowering the client to actively participating in the healing process. Many people have found profound and lasting changes from overlap healing.
